Class Descriptions

Alignment Based Yoga
Alignment Based Yoga uses blocks, straps and blankets to deepen the student's experience of each asana (posture) while also cultivating mindfulness. In this class, students are encouraged to honor and listen to their bodies with compassion while developing strength, balance and flexibility. Whether a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, you will receive individualized attention while learning and exploring yoga postures in a safe, fun, and comfortable environment. This class will heighten self-awareness with the help of pranayama (breathing) techniques. Improve your overall health and life by increasing blood circulation, enhancing digestion, improving your overall body's response to stress and calming the mind.

Beginner Yoga & Meditation

This class teaches the basics of yoga, not only the poses, but also breath work, philosophy, and the concentration that makes yoga so enriching. Includes a strong meditative component.

Bliss
This class is taught in the Svaroopa® style of yoga. Svaroopa® yoga is a compassionate and gentle approach to traditional Hatha Yoga.  Using blankets and blocks as props, the poses are easily accessible for anyone. Precise alignments and generous propping allow deep, inner core openings beginning in the tailbone and the muscles attached to the spine. Years of chronic contractions and tensions are slowly released allowing the body and mind to move towards a more natural state of being—the bliss of your own being. Whether you need to alleviate chronic pain in the back, neck and shoulders or trying to relieve day-to-day stress or searching for an inner path within the Self, Svaroopa® yoga can take you to the level you are looking for.  All levels welcome.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga is a strong practice. It creates Balance both on the mat, and in our daily lives. Hatha Yoga encourages a calming of the mind, strengthening of the body, and awareness of the spirit. Our Hatha Yoga classes offer Pranayama (breathwork), Asana (poses) with a focus on alignment, and Dhyana (meditation). The word Hatha comes from combining the two Sanskrit terms Ha meaning sun (energizing) and Tha meaning moon (calming). When the two are joined you have Hatha, meaning forceful - a powerful, balanced union.    We welcome those new to yoga.

Heated Power Vinyasa Yoga
Be prepared to sweat!  This heated, powerful yoga class is based on the Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga system. Students will learn to integrate breath with movement, flowing  through a series of postures that will strengthen, build flexibility and increase endurance, bringing you to a place of deep inner calm. The heat encourages greater flexibility and detoxification. Some familiarity with basic yoga postures is necessary.  Bring a towel, mat and water. All levels welcomed.

Heated Hour of Power
If you love the 90 minute class, but are short on time, join us for this 60 minute Heated Power Vinyasa class. Be prepared to sweat and energize in this class, shorter on time, but not on power!

Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga is a 5,000-year-old authentic system of yogic exercise and meditation that promotes health, happiness, and spiritual awareness. There are three basic components to Kundalini Yoga. There are the physical postures, literally thousands of kriyas (exercise sets) that strengthen and balance the nervous system, the glandular system and the circulatory system to promote optimum physical and emotional health. Breathing techniques (pranayam) assist a person in processing emotions and feelings, controlling moods, and developing concentration. Mantra (sound) and meditation techniques work to direct and discipline the mind. The practice of this yoga can give you the strength, courage and radiance to meet all of life’s challenges with grace. All levels welcomed.

Mommy & Me Yoga Series (Ages 2-4)
This yoga class combines preschool friendly poses with songs, stories and games. Each class is designed around your child's curiosity as they learn yoga poses through social interaction, repetition and play. Yoga for preschoolers will help them relieve frustration and enjoy an enriching parent/child activity.

Vinyasa Flow
The Vinyasa style blends the ancient wisdom of many yogic traditions including Ashtanga, Iyengar and traditional Hatha into a new expression. It is a dynamic, flowing yoga that connects movements with breath through a series of postures that will strengthen, increase flexibility and build endurance. All levels welcomed.

Children's Yoga with Lynda West

Yoga for Children Series (Ages 5-8)
These classes provide your child with the opportunity to grow emotionally, physically and spiritually. Yoga for Children also allows the student time to connect with themselves and others. Classes are designed appropriately for specific age groups but all follow a basic format: breathwork, warm-up, yoga poses, games/creative movement and relaxation.

Yoga for Children Series (Ages 9-13)
This yoga class will start each student, no matter what level, on the path to their own individual practice.  We follow mostly Hatha yoga poses, breathwork and movement.  In addition they are introduced to Sanskrit pose names, group poses and discussion. The focus is to honor the challenges of the pre-teen child while laying the foundation for a strong, healthy yoga practice.
